Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarship for his family with service for the community. He was the eldest child from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon, who had him raised on the farm they owned in Eufala. Second football he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the country by Outland as well as Lombardi. Outland Awards. In his three years as the team's starter, Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and secured two national championships. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship, and was acknowledged as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree of Education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during his time in college. He settled down in Tampa following college. He played as a member of the Buccaneers for 9 years and made three times all-pro. The beginning of his business career came. The year 1988 was the first time he started working as an Account Relations Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. The bank was also a partner of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of the most outstanding American young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in his height and weighed 256 lbs as a college player he was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, he joined at the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. He was also named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 handed out the Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
